What Ōwea does
Ōwea is a personal media companion for the services and libraries you choose to connect. The app does not sell, host, or distribute movies or TV shows. Ōwea was previously named Ōreia; this policy covers both names.
Information Ōwea uses
Ōwea may use information from your connected services, such as media titles, artwork identifiers, playback progress, watch history, availability, request status, server addresses, and account tokens. This information is used to provide the app’s core features, including browsing, playback context, recommendations, lists, requests, and continuity across sessions.
Ōwea may also use local app preferences, recent activity, and optional contextual signals such as time of day and weather to generate personalized summaries and recommendations. These features do not unlock or provide media content.
Optional permissions
If you grant permission, Ōwea may use your approximate current location to retrieve weather context and improve recommendations.
Ōwea may use Apple iCloud key-value storage to keep small pieces of app state, such as WebDAV playback progress, in sync across your devices signed in with the same Apple Account. Push notifications may be used, when enabled, to deliver relevant app updates or service-related alerts.
Connected services
Ōwea can connect to services you configure, such as Plex, WebDAV, Seerr, and public media metadata providers. When you connect a service, information may be exchanged with that service so Ōwea can display media details, availability, playback state, requests, and related features. Those services process data according to their own privacy policies and terms.
If you choose to use an optional Ōwea notification relay, push tokens, instance identifiers, notification preferences, and selected service events may be sent to that relay only to deliver the alerts you enable.
Tracking and advertising
Ōwea does not use your data to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. Ōwea does not sell personal data.
Data storage
Ōwea stores app settings, authentication tokens, and media state on your device using Apple system storage such as Keychain, UserDefaults, local storage, and, when available, iCloud key-value storage. If you connect external services, those services may store or return data needed for their own operation.
Your choices
You can choose whether to connect optional services. You can manage Location, Notifications, and iCloud permissions in Apple Settings. You can remove connected service credentials by signing out or clearing the related configuration inside Ōwea, when available.
You can also disconnect optional services at any time. Deleting Ōwea from your device removes local app data stored by the app on that device. Data stored by connected third-party services remains controlled by those services.
